SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP: RANGERS STOP CELTIC DOMINANCE
Rangers are the new Scottish Premiership champions after they stopped the dominance of Celtic on the domestic front to win a first league title in a decade. Celtic were determined to win a tenth successive league title in the Scottish Premiership but Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and his players had other ideas. Rangers have been impressive in the league and they were rewarded with the league title earlier today after Celtic could only play a goalless draw. Celtic had won the last nine league titles and they could have prolonged Rangers’ wait for a first league title in a decade if they were able to beat hosts Dundee United. In the end, Celtic failed to secure the away win needed thereby handing. Rangers the much anticipated league title.
For Rangers, all attention will now shift to the Europa League with the round of 16 meeting with Slavia Prague of Czech Republic on the horizon. Sparta Prague play hosts to Rangers in the first leg on Thursday night before the return leg in Scotland next week Thursday.
