RANGERS NOW OPEN FRESH TALKS FOR YET ANOTHER MAJOR NEW TRANSFER

Rangers have now opened exploratory talks to sign Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin this summer, according to Bob Faesen. The HLN Sports journalist has reported that the Belgian midfielder has always wanted to leave and move aboard during this window, making it clear earlier in the summer. Rangers have been strongly linked with a deadline-busting move since qualifying for the Champions League, and it now looks as though that interest has become official.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Friday [26 August], Faesen reported that dialogue had now been opened between the two clubs over a move. “Rangers FC is interested in Standard midfielder Nicolas Raskin,” he wrote. No offer yet, but exploratory talks are underway. Raskin always wanted to go abroad, that was clear at the beginning of this summer. Ross Wilson was straight back into action after celebrating in that wild night over in Eindhoven after reaching the group stages of the Champions League.

With trips to Ajax, Liverpool and Napoli now on the cards, this squad needs to be strengthened before the deadline comes around next Thursday [01 September]. Giovanni van Bronckhorst will want his squad depth to be on point, and Raskin certainly brings that to Ibrox with that box-to-box ability something that only Glen Kamara currently has. There has also been big speculation regarding the future of Kamara at Ibrox, so if he was to leave too, it would mean that Raskin and maybe even another new face on top of that would be needed.

With talks well and truly now underway, we can expect more developments in the coming hours and days over the weekend as we look for potentially numerous new additions. The money is rolling in at Ibrox, and the new faces could also start doing the same very soon.
