Rangers Fans Will Find It Difficult to Accept Current Position, Says Dalziel

Former Rangers star Gordon Dalziel says that the pressure on manager Mark Warburton will only increase in the coming weeks.

The manager has seen his team secure only one win in the last five games. As a result, they have dropped a whopping 27 points behind Celtic after the latest round of games. The midweek 4-1 loss against Hearts was a major blow, and they have now failed to win against Ross County after only managing a 1-1 draw. Dalziel admitted that Celtic were significantly better than Rangers at this moment, but that will not prevent fans from placing the same kind of expectations as the team leaders.

Celtic have been in stupendous form this season and have failed to win only one game. They are yet to suffer a league defeat of the season. While Celtic are on such a march, Rangers have been struggling to even sustain a second spot in the Scottish Premier League.

The recent form has seen the club drop behind Aberdeen. If this poor form continues, there is a real danger of Rangers being absent from European football next season. Mark Warburton has been in charge of Rangers since the summer of 2015, and he has helped with a return to the Scottish Premier League. However, many feel that his time at the Scottish club is coming to an end.

“Mark was just giving an honest answer when he said Rangers were way behind Celtic. He is only saying what everyone knows. But unfortunately he’s saying what people don’t want to hear. If you’re a Rangers supporter, it’s a hard one to take.Everyone who looks at the situation now knows Rangers are miles away from Celtic. But fans who have grown up in the traditions of Rangers don’t want to hear about finishing second. Being Rangers manager is a difficult job at the moment no doubt about it,” said Dalziel.
