PREM CLUBS CIRCLE JELAVIC

Glasgow Rangers are finding it increasingly difficult to hold on to their star forward Nikica Jelavic with several English Premier League clubs – including the big clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool – interested in acquiring his services.

Rated at £ 4 million, the hit man from Croatia could prove to be quite a bargain for the two English football heavyweights as well as the likes of Queens Park Rangers and also Aston Villa who are also monitoring his situation at Rangers.

The club and its manager Ally McCoist are not willing to sell their talismanic striker at all but they will find it difficult to hold on to him if any of the English clubs come up with hard cash. Even the best Scottish Premier League betting odds suggest that it’s more likely for Jelavic to be playing elsewhere when the January transfer window has slammed shut.

Jelavic was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer but nothing came of the rumours and he began the season in flying form for Glasgow Rangers and that seems to have raised further questions on his future. His brilliant form sparked interest in the English clubs and if the club does decide to sell, it might spark a transfer bidding war between the interested clubs. Although Liverpool look to be the favorites to land the Croatian forward, Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish, the former Rangers manager, might have something to say about that.

Many people have already started to raise doubts about Jelavic’s commitment to the cause of the club and believe that it is better to sell him now, but the Glasgow Rangers McCoist refuses to rule out a longer stay at the club for the forward, who has become one of the best players to put on the famous Royal Blue jersey in the past decade and according to the media, the manager will do well if he manages to keep his star till the summer.
