Former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has said that he wants to return to Rangers after becoming a free agent following the end of his contract with AC Milan.

Gennaro Gattuso played for Scottish club Rangers for a few seasons before moving to Italy where he went on to become an established star with AC Milan. His extraordinarily long spell with AC Milan has come to an end after he decided to leave the club at the end of the season.

Following his departure from the San Siro, Gattuso has revealed that he would like to join his former club Rangers, with whom he has a special affinity.

Meanwhile, his agent has come out and said that wages will not be a problem for Gattuso to sign for Rangers. The Scottish club are currently in administration after having owed more than £ 100 million in taxes and credit.

Hence, it is very likely that they will not be able to afford the wages for the former AC Milan midfielder, but it seems that it is the least of the problems. Gattuso is also not worried about the prospect of not playing in Europe next season with Rangers, he’s not too worried, having played the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus many times over the years. The club finished the season more than 20 points behind winners Celtic.

‘He knows all about the Rangers financial situation. We know it is difficult but we can work to find a solution. Rino talked with Ally on the telephone. They know each other very well and like and respect each other. Now we have to work to see if something can happen. Not being in Europe next season would not be an issue for Rino. I will meet with Rangers again tomorrow for further talks,’ said Gattuso’s agent Andrea D’Amico. He has also confirmed that Rangers is his preferred destination.
